Statement from the Arizona Democratic Party's Executive Director Herschel Fink:
“Broken promises, erroneous facts, and misguided leadership is what Arizonans got from Governor Doug Ducey’s State of the State speech. Doug Ducey is oblivious to the fact he’s been the Governor for almost four years and has nothing to show for it.
“Arizonans have made public education their number one priority this year. Thousands of Arizonans flocked to the Capitol just days before his speech to call for more public education funding, pay increases for hardworking teachers, and stopping the siphoning of public schools funds to more affluent, private schools. Yet Governor Ducey downplayed the state of education, and paid little attention the plea of Arizonans. His failure to address the teacher shortage, and the exodus of the unqualified warm bodies he allowed into the classrooms, has exasperated the problem and leaves the state of education in flux.
“It’s an election year, and Doug Ducey will do absolutely everything in his power to try and shed the “Anti-Education Governor” label he’s made for himself, but Arizonans are paying attention to the issues, and if he and Republicans fail to address this crisis, come November, they’ll all be out of office.”
