How the Cassidy-Graham-Heller-Johnson Repeal Bill Will Impact Arizona

Like each of their previous attempts, the Cassidy-Graham-Heller-Johnson bill would sabotage our health care system, gut Medicaid, increase costs, and strip health care away from millions of Americans.

“Democrats believe health care is a right, not a privilege. And as Republicans try to take health care away from working families, Arizonans will suffer under the Cassidy-Graham-Heller-Johnson bill,” said Arizona Democratic Party Executive Director Herschel Fink. “This harmful bill will end Medicaid as we know it, cancel tax credits that help families afford health insurance, and eliminate subsidies that reduce out-of-pocket costs for working families. Jeff Flake and John McCain need to listen to the people they represent and join Democrats in their efforts to improve our health care system.”

Here is a look at a few of the ways Arizonans will suffer under the Cassidy-Graham-Heller bill:

·         Ends the ACA’s Medicaid expansion, which covers 425,800 Arizonans.

·         Cancels tax credits that help 120,971 Arizonans – 86 percent of Arizona’s marketplace enrollees – afford health insurance.

·         Eliminates subsidies that reduce out-of-pocket costs for 78,265 Arizona residents, which is 56 percent of the total marketplace enrollees in our state.

·         Slashes billions in federal funding to states for expanding health insurance coverage and lowering costs.
